Workflow Testing

Over the course of two days, you will gain fundamental knowledge and practical training in specifying your workflows or processes as flowcharts and translating them into usable and effective test cases that can highlight quality and risks.

Learning objectives

You will receive a basic introduction to how to specify workflows or processes as flowcharts and understand the value of doing so.
You will learn how to ensure the quality of the requirements early in the process.
You will understand why and when you should test your workflows.
You will be able to prioritize the scope of your testing based on a risk assessment.
You will learn methods for assessing the scope of the testing.
You will be able to translate workflows or business flows into usable test cases.
You will ensure an effective and structured approach to testing workflows.

Target audience

This course is designed for business professionals and staff involved in testing as part of implementing or purchasing a new IT system. It is intended for those who need to understand how to conduct testing based on a business flow (whether it is described as a textual workflow, process flow diagram, workflow, swim lanes, use case, or data flow). The course is suitable for individuals who have not previously received training in testing.

Course format

The course is structured around a practical walkthrough of a case, so that you break it down from business flow to test case. The course is a blend of theoretical examples that are applied to a continuous case study. It will provide you with practical insight and dialogue about the methods, enabling you to transfer them to your own project. The course will be characterized by dialogue and debate based on your, the other participants’, and the instructor’s experiences.
