Practical User Testing

Practical User Testing is a two-day course that, through a hands-on approach, provides you with the necessary tools to plan, execute, and report on a user test. You will gain knowledge about different types of user tests and learn when it makes sense to use them in the development and optimization of digital products, websites, apps, etc.

Learning objectives

The course provides you with basic knowledge about usability testing and how to implement it early and continuously in your development process. After the course, you will know:

How to involve your users in the solution
How to ensure that you create the right product
Why usability testing at an early stage is necessary
How to incorporate usability testing into your process
How to conduct usability testing in practice, including
- How to plan and design a good usability test
- How to conduct your usability test
- How to use hypotheses as a tool in your usability tests
- How to create a good report that is easy for everyone to understand
- How to translate insights from usability testing into action points

Target audience

This course is aimed at everyone involved with digital products who are looking to start or improve their user testing skills. This includes, for example, UX Designers, UX Researchers, Product Designers, Designers, Product Managers, Project Managers, Product Owners, Scrum Masters, Testers, and E-commerce Specialists. The course is both theoretical and practical and is not specific to any tool, so prior knowledge of tools is not required.

Course format

We will cover how a user test is planned, designed, conducted, and reported step-by-step, to provide you with insights and an understanding of the process. The course is not specific to any tool, so it will include teaching on the general preparation, structure, execution, and reporting of a user test. The material reviewed will be summarized along the way. On the first day of the course, you will be given an assignment to be completed by the second day, giving you the opportunity to apply your new knowledge. On the second day, there will also be a chance to discuss your challenges and experiences with the assignment, as well as to ask questions. The course will also feature numerous real-world examples to anchor the theory in tangible contexts.
